All-round support before, during and after an outpatient procedure
Before the procedure
You have a Sanitas contact person for all questions relating to the outpatient procedure. They will be on hand to help throughout the procedure. Are you unsure about a diagnosis or treatment? Your contact will be happy to organise an independent second opinion for you. You can also choose at which renowned partner hospital you would like to undergo the procedure. On the day of the procedure
Benefit from a free choice of doctors and the opportunity to be cared for and treated by senior doctors. To enable you to approach the procedure as relaxed as possible, Hospital Day Comfort will cover the accommodation costs for you and an accompanying person in a hotel near the hospital or directly in the hospital (without accompanying person). We also bear the travelling expenses. After the procedure, your recovery begins in a private recovery area, where you can be catered for if you wish.
After the procedure
Perhaps you’re still weak after your operation and need help at home. Hospital Day Comfort supports you up to the amount of CHF 2,800 per calendar year: a maximum of CHF 1,000 for childcare or pet care, and a maximum of CHF 1,800 for home help and food deliveries. And you benefit from discounts and vouchers, for example for delivery services.

Thanks to the Priority Access service, you will receive an appointment with a specialist within just five days. This is the best way to find out whether you need an outpatient procedure – and if so, in what form.

Inpatient private or semiprivate hospital insurance offers additional benefits for medical procedures that require at least one overnight stay in hospital. If your procedure takes place on an outpatient basis and you do not have to stay overnight, these additional benefits don’t apply. What are examples of outpatient procedures?
Examples of procedures that are performed on an outpatient basis as standard include: meniscus surgery, inguinal hernia surgery (unilateral), destruction of kidney stones or tonsillectomy. The government and the cantons publish lists of operations that are generally performed on an outpatient basis.

Will I receive support with everyday life before and after an outpatient procedure?
If you initially have physical limitations, we will be happy to assist you: for up to one month before or after the operation, you can call on a home help who will take care of cooking, washing and ironing, shopping, cleaning, gardening and plant care for you. We also contribute to the costs of childcare or pet care. As well as food deliveries for up to 14 days after the outpatient procedure.
