Who are Dental and Dental Basic suitable for?

Dental supplementary insurance is the right choice for families with children. Particularly for teenagers, orthodontic treatments such as braces can put a strain on the family budget.

Dental Basic is particularly suitable for adults who value regular dental care and affordable dental insurance.

Why Dental and Dental Basic insurance plans make sense

Your basic insurance covers only a limited number of illness or accident-related dental treatments. In many cases, you therefore have to pay for dental repairs, routine check-ups and orthodontic treatment yourself. This can be expensive. The Dental and Dental Basic insurance plans give you peace of mind.

  • Dental Basic – streamlined insurance for minor procedures

The Dental Basic supplementary insurance plan covers more minor dental repairs and preventive care. It is suitable for adults who value regular dental care. For example, should you ever need root canal treatment, a crown or dental prosthetic work, this plan will ease the financial burden.

    Good to know

You can take out the Dental Basic supplementary insurance plan without a dental report. To take out this plan, you must have visited a dental hygienist in the last 12 months, had a dental check-up (including x-rays) in the last 24 months, and you must have no major dental damage, such as missing teeth or crowns.

For children: up to the 5th birthday, no dental report is required to take out Dental Basic. The age at the start of insurance applies. One exception: if there is already major dental damage, a report will be required.

  • Dental – comprehensive insurance for more extensive procedures

Especially when it comes to braces, things can quickly become expensive: Treatment can easily cost up to CHF 15,000. Other dental treatments that are common in children and adolescents can also cause unpleasant financial surprises. For example, wisdom tooth extraction costs between CHF 500 and 800 per tooth. The good news is that the Dental supplementary insurance plan covers dental hygiene and up to 80% of the costs of dental treatment up to CHF 5,000 per calendar year – and is therefore particularly suitable for children.

    Good to know

You need a dental report for the Dental supplementary insurance plan. For children, the earlier you take out insurance, the better, because a dental report is only required for children from their 5th birthday. From the 7th birthday, X-rays are required for children in addition to the dental report. The age at the start of insurance applies.
