TBE with the tick vaccine
Discount on your tick vaccination
Ticks can transmit the TBE virus, which can cause meningitis. The tick vaccine protects against infection.
Why should you get the tick vaccine?
Tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) is an infectious disease that is transmitted by tick bites. Not all ticks carry the virus and not all people develop the disease. However, some people may develop serious inflammation of the meninges and brain.
The Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) recommends the tick vaccine for everyone over the age of 6 who lives in a high-risk area. As ticks are spreading, the whole of Switzerland is now classified as a risk area, with the exception of the cantons of Geneva and Ticino. For complete immunity against TBE, the FOPH recommends having the vaccinations and a booster every 10 years.
